ECI 515: Online Collaborations in Education

Course Description

ECI 515, taught by Dr. Heather Purichia in Spring 2013, provided the opportunity to gain practical experience in fostering online interactions between students. The course examined a variety of strategies and tools involved in creating online communities and the instructor made use of several novel ideas such as a Twitter debate, Pinterest knowledge construction activity and use of online survey tools. The final project was to design a lesson plan that used online tools to aid student collaboration.

Better Know Newton!

The lesson plan linked below was my submission for ECI 515. The plan was designed to take seventh grade science students into a world of online collaboration in order to better understand Newton's Laws of Motion. The plan seeks to allow the teacher to determine the amount of online participation based on their comfort level and access to technology.
